1539 – Bonaire Street Market (MESURA + vdv)

On the outskirts of Valencia, in one of the biggest shopping centres in Spain, daily visited by thousands of people, nine Valencian restaurants bet on a new concept of catering and start up their business in the new Street Market de Bonaire.

With a very tight budget its eventual location is a group of recycled maritime containers in the middle of an unsheltered car park, which have been isolated from the immediate surroundings. The location itself was not comfortable for having lunch, and the strategy to attract the customer has been to create an “oasis” closed by reused walls (containers and pallets).

The main objective was to create a Mediterranean environment using the spaces that provided shadow, platforms, trees and pergolas. The lightning and the illustrations created by a local artist gave the place a dynamic and unique image. In order to join this space to the city of Valencia, several local graphic designers have expressed their skills in the different containers.

With a fresh and urban idea, Saona, La Llorona, Onion, Etcetera by La Sucursal, Helsinki of the Copenhagen group, Curry Corner, On the rocks, Burchick and Sorsi and Morsi, start this thrilling adventure offering their customers their best cuisine.
