EC Pavilion is an airy garden room. Its function is to extend the original home and create extra space for special occasions and social encounters, while abstracting architecture into only the essential: Three walls supporting a concrete slab, creating three different functional rooms (a multi-use indoor/outdoor area, a bathroom and a kitchen).
Rather than perceiving landscape as an extension of architecture, EC Pavilion conceives architecture as landscape, creating a new strip in the garden of the premise. The east-west transversal line generates two big facades and two enclosed or delimited gardens. The north facade opens to the new garden, and is connected to the swimming-pool, while the south facade can be closed off when necessary, acting as a shield from warm and humid weather. Tall palm trees create shade within the most sunny areas and native plants make place for a new vegetable garden.
