What Does Luxury Mean In A Place That Has Seen It All?

The project is located in a neighbourhood next to Puerto Banús, a distinctive area in Marbella known for its luxurious lifestyle and picturesque setting established in 1970. The marina is the main attraction, famous for its collection of yachts lined with high-end boutiques, drawing visitors and residents from all over the world who seek a premium lifestyle. The real estate in this area is some of the most exclusive, offering top-notch amenities and services, including prestigious schools, healthcare facilities, and sports clubs.

In an area that has seen it all, it is impossible not to question the true meaning of luxury. While we often link it to wealth, it's also about living in comfort and beauty. Keeping this in mind, the project sets itself apart from the surrounding buildings, showing a different personality and taking a more passive and responsible approach. In a place where luxury is usually associated with opulence, the project comes across as a breath of fresh air, redefining its meaning.

How To Disappear In A Crowded Landscape

The project is based on a strong sense of place and the importance of respecting the environment. In a constantly evolving world that nurtures globalization, connection to nature is the actual luxury. The plot is located next to Sierra Blanca, a limestone mountain evoking a sense of tranquillity, which amplifies the beauty of the project and offers a peaceful contrast to the seafront area of Marbella.

One of the project's main strategies is to mimic these surroundings, taking in the natural colour palette through a de-saturated red tone, a rarity among the adjacent buildings, which all revert to the use of white, reinforcing a more conventional idea of luxury. This decision is backed by the desire to disappear in an environment of relatively high visual noise, which makes the project stand out because it doesn't stand out.

The volumes' shapes add a layer of dynamism to the otherwise vertical and still landscape—a dense mass of Mediterranean pines that make the buildings disappear between them, allowing for privacy and clear views of the sea and horizon simultaneously.

Privacy Doesn't Equal Hiding

The project envisions three different volumes (using only ground and first floors) located at the highest spot of the plot to maximize the potential views. With fourteen independent apartments and exclusive shared areas (pool, gym, and spa), the experience provided to the owners is whole within the property. The design, a game of diaphanous spaces that embrace the idea of openness, responds to the project's intention to create an iconic and elegant proposal capable of shifting traditional expectations.

The interiors are split between the day area, with a large outdoor terrace and open space combining the kitchen, dining room, and living room, and the night area, with two en-suite double bedrooms and the master suite with its own terrace.

The use of staggered volumes is directly connected to the search for privacy, an important asset the project considers for the future owners—even with the building's openness and the existence of neighbours, one can sense seclusion, solitude, and protection.
